Ever since ancient times, Man has amused himself with dice. The six-sided cubes whose roll is always different have long been used in games.
Yahtzee is the progenitor of all modern dice games, and the rules are so basic, it could very well have been a game that children, men, and women from all eras might have played. The rules seem to have something in common with pretty much every dice game I've come across.
The rules are basic and simple: roll the dice, and aim for one of the "hands" on the score sheet. Once you fill up the sheet, the player with the highest score wins. You get five dice and three turns to achieve a "hand". Sounds simple? It isn't. You'll have to be good at rolling and have a healthy dose of luck on your side to win.
Yahtzee: The Deluxe Edition is a great addition to the regular game. The rules are the same, but now, the dice are colored with milky swirls and gold pips, and you get a special dice tray complete with dice holders, along with score pads, two pencils, and bonus chips for when you get more than one yahtzee. This is definitely the edition for any serious Yahtzee player.
I would recommend that you order this product today. It's a lot of fun, trust me.
Not a Deluxe Version of Yahtzee!! Posted 15 January 2008
I have always enjoyed playing Yahtzee and wanted to get a nice version of the game. I decided on the Deluxe version because I liked the idea of having a tray to use to roll the dice in and from the picture it looked like it would be a good quality product. Boy was I wrong! The game is of course the classic game, so I won't knock the game itself. But the tray that this comes with is very flimsy. I had expected it to be a solid plastic tray but it is not. The rest of the game is fine, but because I had paid twice as much for this deluxe version, I thought I would be getting a better quality product than I did.

Love this new edition to Yatzee. It is so handy to have the tray so your dice don't go flying everywhere. This game is really a good game for the whole family.

The plastic frame that upgrades this to "deluxe" isn't really necessary or well-made, but otherwise, no complaints at all. Love Yahtzee! It's fun for kids from 9 to 99!
