Marketplace Fun! Posted 25 February 2007 Although Microsoft Points are a tad expensive, they let you customize and enjoy your Xbox Live experience that much more. Gamerpics, themes, arcade games, even movies. Sure you can go sifting through the Marketplace for free items, but you need these MS points to get the good stuff. They could be cheaper, but it's a nice buy.
nice pick! Posted 08 February 2007 this prepaid card with 1600 points for the xbox live market place is a nice pick...if u cant purchase from your dashboard, go ahead and buy this prepaid card
What can I say? You're trading one currency for another. Posted 30 January 2007 Yes, you're basically trading real-world currency for Microsoft currency. If you keep the exchange rate in mind as you spend the MS Points, then you'll know how much you are spending.
Many of the items you can purchase (XBL Arcade games) are worth the money, but try before you buy: all games have a trial version.
Protect Your Credit Card Posted 28 January 2007 First of all, it is too late for me. I already provided MS two credit cards through my console. And like the other reviewers have said, that is absolutely not a good idea. You see, I have been using my credit cards online for many years. So far, I have not had any difficulty because I have chosen the online merchants wisely. I always purchase from the likes of Amazon, J&R, Best Buy, and JCrew. Unfortunately, our friends over at Microsoft are probably not as efficient in their handling of your account. And they do not have the same level of commitment to the purchaser as say, Amazon has. I expect for that to improve, as the Marketplace continues to evolve and develop. Once MS realizes that they do not yet have a tight hold on the video game market as they do the software market, they will give more focus to customer service.
In short, what I am saying is to use a card like this for your dealings with XBox Live. Please don't get me wrong. I enjoy visiting the Marketplace. I regularly download movies and other content from that place. And I have always found the selection to be more than adequate. A little caution never hurts though, especially with MS.
This card is also a perfect gift for anyone who owns an XBox and shops at the Marketplace. However, make sure that your purchase meets the requirement for free shipping. The overall objective is not only to protect your credit card, but to also save as much money on those points as you can. They are expensive enough as it is.
Sure, once you do the math, the prices are a bit high. For example, it will cost you close to $7, including tax, to purchase 500 points. One high definition movie will cost you 480 points! Now, understand that you are "renting" the movie. Once you start to play the movie, you have one day to finish it. If you do not immediatley play the movie, you will have fourteen days to do so. Once the movie license has expired, you will no longer be able to play it. And, you do not get the "special features" that come with the DVD. However, I find this more than acceptable because this is one way to enjoy high definition movies without having to purchase the external HD-DVD player. My hope is that the rental prices will decrease very soon.
Ok, Citan knows it's inconvenient to purchase a card just to add points to your XBox Live account. That's sort of like making three right turns just to go left. But given the nature of the situation, this might be an instance where the hassle is worth it. And the price of those points are the same, whichever way you go.
Moronic buyers BEWARE... too stupid to use LOL Posted 26 January 2007 Ok seriously, I don't know what all these complaints are about and all the shipping issues. The card is a great price with free super saver shipping for orders over twenty-five dollars. Or free with 2 day shipping when you have a membership (as I do). Pay the above posted price and receive it in 2 days for free. How is that a bad deal? I just received ours, Hubby put in the code and we are good to go. This is the second card to order. I don't understand all these bad ratings and bad cards. Must be the moronic buyer. So yeah, buy it if you are buying something else for the free shipping or if you already have the Amazon Prime. DUH!
