Product Description Educational Toys VTech Introducing a fantastic way to teach your child how to recognize capital, lowercase leters, and number stroke order! The Write and Learn Smart Board recognizes, teaches and rewards writing skills! This smart, touch-sensitive board
Editorial Review Young kids can learn to write using this slick magnetic board with activities for numbers and letters. The board, equipped with an LCD screen, comes with buttons for all the numbers and letters and teaches through basic diagrams, how the numbers and letters are drawn. Silly songs, noises, and some basic animation options keep things fun. High tech toys can sometimes be confusing for younger kids who can't keep up with the abstraction that technology sometimes requires. But on this entertaining and educational writing set, the technology is seamlessly integrated, letting kids just focus on the fun and the learning. --Charlie Williams

NOT well made! Good concept. Terrible execution Posted 22 January 2007 Great concept to help your kids write. Terrible execution!!!
Here's what happens when you want to practice letters. The toy's frame flips up and you insert a letter's sheet (by the way, you only get one sheet for each letter - don't even think about letting your child use crayons on the originals - better find a copier). You put the frame back down, which triggers the toy to ask you to press on a star that tells it which letter you inserted. It then starts a 10 second tutorial on writing the letter before it asks you to practice writing. Here's the PROBLEM - the toy is so shoddy and poorly made that the frame is loose and not secure. When you even bump the plastic frame, for instance when you actually want to WRITE inside it, the toy thinks you lifted the frame and it resets to asking you to press that stupid star again. There goes 10 seconds, again and again and again. Even I myself couldn't reliably avoid touching the frame. Think about a 3 year old trying to do this.
Avoid this toy. Waste of money.
Write N Learn Smartboard...Good for Beginners Posted 20 January 2007 I do like this toy it is pretty good for beginners. However, I do wish that there was more room for them to practice their writing that's they only downside and that is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. I love the different activities that they can engage in and I also like that more practice sheets can be downloaded and copied form the V-tech website.
My 3 year old loves it and she can now write her first and last name. She enjoys all the activities.
already working Posted 18 January 2007 my grandaughter loves this. She plays with it so much she has already improved her writing
Great Learning toy... Posted 10 January 2007 I bought this for my 5 year old grandson. He loves it. Some of the reviews say it doesn't recognize the letter when you write them, But he has no problems and he is just learning how to write his capital and the lower case letters. I think it has help him alot. I love the V-Tech learning toys.
Cute but could be better Posted 06 January 2007 I bought this for my 4 year old son who has problems writing. It will be great for letter recognition but there is only one sheet per letter provided. My son needs to see what he writing on paper. The screen at the top doesn't give a great idea of what he is trying to do. Also, my older son got frustrated because he was writing the letter correctly but the computer wasn't able to pick it up. I am a bit disappointed since I had heard good things about this toy. Vtech should provide more ways for the child to see the letter they are trying to write. Also, if they added letter sounds to this it would be great.
