Our Editorial Review
Amazon.com Review This remote control robot looks like a weird cross between a tank and a tick. It has six legs, glowing eyes, and snapping jaws in front. The best part, though, is its Gatling gun-style missile launcher. At the flip of a glowing red switch on the remote, the launcher pops up from under its hard, wing-like cover. You can use the right trigger to shoot the missiles off one at a time or fire all six automatically in under five seconds. You can even shoot while the N.S.E.C.T. is moving. The missiles travel up to 20 feet because they are made of light foam with soft, suction cup tips and weigh .07 ounces each. This makes collateral damage to heirloom china unlikely. The pincher-like "power claw" in front can grab and hold some objects. We were able to drag an empty coffee mug around the floor by its handle, but the N.S.E.C.T. didn't have a deep enough grip to go around the mug itself. Controlling the N.S.E.C.T. is pretty easy; it can move forward, reverse, and can do both moving turns and stationary pivots. N.S.E.C.T. is loads of fun, but be prepared for the fact that its battery needs a good five hour charge before any fun begins. N.S.E.C.T. comes with the remote control, a NiCd battery pack and charger, a 9 volt battery for the transmitter, and basic instructions. --Porter B. Hall
Product Description Hot Wheels introduces its latest innovation in radio control. Featuring a "biomechanical" design, the N.S.E.C.T. robot scurries with amazing speed and then transforms from "bio-bug" to "bio-missle" blaster in seconds! Two shooting modes allow the N.S.E.C.T. single or rapid fire, up to an alarming distance of 25 feet. It also has working claws for capturing things, and laser-like eyes that change color when it's in attack or explore mode. The N.S.E.C.T. Robot requires one 7.2V battery and charger, plus one 9V battery for the transmitter, all included. 49 MHz. Measures 15" long.

Robotic Attack Creature Posted 16 February 2007 The first one of these I bought in December was a big hit. Everything functioned properly and kids love it. Keep you dogs away from the 6 foam darts or you'll be looking for replacements:) I tried twice to buy a second one in January. Both were recycled Christmas gifts with missing parts. Amazon accepted both back at no cost to me with printed mailer.
Fun for the whole family! Posted 09 February 2007 We bought this for our son (7), but the whole family (ages 5 to 80) have really had fun with it. It's movements are very "life like" for a robot, and the darts fly clear across the room. We have found a few glitches where it stops working exactly as it's suppose to, but turning it off and on has fixed those so far. Overall we'd recommend it - lots of fun.
Defectife firing mechanism Posted 27 January 2007 Same as others I purchased this NSECT over the holidays. Firing mechanism stop working shortly after my kid started to play with it.
Instead of sending an advanced replacement Mattel had me waste my time dissasembling parts of the defective toy, sent them the parts AT MY OWN EXPENSE, and refused to send me the new toy until they received the defective one. Had to get mad and request to talk to a manager for them to finally agree to ship me the replacement when they were able to verify the defective was on the mail.
For a fairly expensive toy very bad customer support. Very dissapointed kid over the holidays took like 10 days for Mattel to finally get the toy to my kid. Will never buy a complex toy from Mattel again.

Didn't shoot darts. Posted 26 January 2007 My 11 year old son wanted this for Christmas. Very disappointed after charging recommended time that the darts did not shoot at all... just clicked horribly loud. Called mattel, sent replacement dart (said wrong darts packaged with product), received replacement darts in 2 days, still didn't work. Called mattel again had to return portions of the unit to them. Received refund check in the mail in 3 weeks. Very courteous customer service department at mattel. Son wants me to buy a replacement with the refund check. I think I'll talk him into something else. Why take a chance.
NSECT Review Posted 23 January 2007 This is one of the most interesting and entertaining Remote Control items I have ever purchased. I have what I call my "Grandfathers' Toy Chest", that I purchase the toys, or relatives purchase them for me, for inclusion in my Toy Chest. (Of Course I play with all the toys before they co in the Chest to ensure their "FUN FACTOR". This way when my grandchildren come to visit the love going into my Toy Chest and playing with the best toys for many years ago.
I have many of the "hot toys" furbies, R/C Plane, Helicopter and Boat as well as a R/C Dinosaur and many other toys in the Chest.
