Be ready to Settle Catan! Posted 14 October 2008 Having played Settler of Catan (Basic) for two years without becoming bored, a couple of friends and I decided to upgrade our experience to the 5-6 players expansion as well the Cities and Knight's expansion. (Note: to play 5-6 player C&K you need four items - Basic Settlers of Catan, 5-6 Player Settlers Expansion, Basic C&K, and 5-6 C&K expansion).
Playing SoC with 5-6 players will add about 1 hours to the game play so shoot for a 2-3 hours game with 6 players. The expansion add little to be desired and should only be bought with C&K in mind.
The 5-6 player C&K is a must-have for any fan of Settlers of Catan. While it will take you one game to get accustomed to the new rules and options, the complexity offers so much more that Settlers Of Catan is boring without C&K.
Be prepared to spend a couple hours to get through a game, and I recommend you enjoy hanging out with your friends between turns. It is also worth mentioning that you will need a large table to fit the board and the people ;)

Settlers of Catan extension set Posted 17 July 2008 Thank you for making it so very easy to find and obtain this extension set for this game.
Excellent Game Posted 14 July 2008 My 13 year old girl and my 16 year old boy loves to play this game with the "parents". The game is envolving and interactive. Plan on spending at least 3 hours the first game for learning. An average game takes between 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Enjoy
PWH Posted 16 April 2008 The standard game was great for 2 or 3 people, but got really cramped and unfair when playing with 4. Even with 3 people often one would have a extremely hard time competing. With the expansion to 5-6 it fixes all these problems. I haven't played it with more than 4 players, but with four, all players get an equal chance in the game. I recommend this expansion for anyone playing this game.
make sure you match editions Posted 05 April 2008 We LOVE to play this game and wanted to expand our current edition. However, we didn't realize that it would be much different from the previous version. You can play them together, just a little confusing. Just make sure if you are expanding that you get the same edition that you already have. This is honestly one of the most fun games we play. I don't even care that my husband always wins when we play - all of the interaction and bargaining makes it enjoyable for all!
