Link's journeys, reinvented
Hailed by many as the best Zelda game since 1998's Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess thrusts players into a troubled world ravaged by a dangerous magic. Sporting a new, more realistic visual style than the previous Zelda title, Link looks much more like an adult than in previous installments and fits well into an environment that provides Zelda fans with a much more gritty and grim environment to explore. The entirety of the quest fits this darker mood, as both Link and NPC's alike share the same concern for the changes about in Hyrule.

More than just a spiritual successor to previous Zelda installments, Twilight Princess offers players a new way of controlling Link through dungeons, forests, towns, and the bizarre Twilight Realm: precise weapon controls with the Wii remote! Players can use the remote to control Links' weapons including the sword, arrows, and boomerang. This new control scheme allows for much faster and more accurate control than on previous Nintendo hardware. For example, waving the remote in the air will result in Link performing the same move with the sword. To fire off on arrow, players "pull back" on a virtual controller string as the Wii remote's speaker lets players know that the projectile is ready for release. It all works incredibly well and adds to the title's immersion and style- you feel more in the center of the action than in previous Zelda games.

As impressive as the new control scheme is, the scope and size of the new land of the Hyrule is equally as impressive- truly the Wii's first epic adventure. Beautifully crafted and four years in the making, the land players travel through is vast and diverse as the dungeons and monsters that lie within. As players collect triforce pieces from the distant sections of the continent, they will get to know many different villages and foes. Thankfully, Link will be able to move over long stretches of land faster thanks to "Epona," your faithful horse. Epona also helps Link become a more effective fighter, as a number of powerful and impressive sword strikes can be launched while galloping through fields of enemies.

The Twilight Realm awaits
Like most games in the Zelda franchise, Link begins his adventure with little more than the clothes he has on an an inkling that something has gone awry. After an initial trip to the Twilight Realm, in which Link appears as a wolf, a friendly shadow dweller named Midna will meet up with players and give helpful advice on gameplay. Fortunately for players, this virtual assistant spells out ways to be a more effective adventurer in and out of the shadow world. Early stages of the game have Link spending a lot of time in the Twilight Realm, and outdoor areas of Hyrule, attempting to clear areas of the strange darkness that has seemingly fallen over every village, forest, and field. As the story progresses, players will learn the cause of the shadows, and what they must to do vanquish them for good.

Puzzling puzzles
Link once again finds himself in a number of classic Zelda-esque puzzle scenarios in which he must light torches to unlock doors, raise and lower water levels, and fight enemies to collect keys and open chests for valuable rupees. A number of the dungeons present unique puzzle challenges that rely on the player's ability to hone their Wii remote's control, such as an air castle in the sky that can only be accessed by an extremely accurate grappling hook toss.

In general, Twilight Princess is more challenging than the average Zelda game, with a number of boss battles having protracted hit sequences with little support potions about, and even less warning. Still, there's never been an adventure experience such as this, wherein players can literally charge at a dungeon boss with their fists and punch the air to defeat an enormous foe. As the finest Zelda experience in almost ten years and the game fans have been waiting for, Twilight Princess will delight young and old gamers alike.

This is such a great, adventurous, albiet time consuming game. The controls are easy, (riding your horse is sometimes a pain, however) and the gameplay is totally fun and the characters are detailed and memorable. The graphics are stunning (for the Wii, anyway), and the replay value is fairly good as well. You will NOT be disappointed. You WILL want the strategy guide, especially if you don't want to miss anything.

My daughter and I recently played through Wind Waker (finished it, started over and about 90% done), and then Ocarina of Time, from the Collector's Edition on GameCube disc played on the Wii (we never quite finished it: the Temple of Shadow is where we stopped because the boss was too hard, and it took too long to get back to him each time we failed...we both got frustrated with it after the 3rd or 4th attempt).

I know I've enjoyed Twilight Princess way more than OOT, and about the same as Wind Waker.

If you've played OOT or WW, Twilight Princess is the easiest of the three from a skill standpoint (we never failed a boss battle even once until the final boss battle).

There seems to be way more stuff to do than in WW. OOT had a lot of stuff to do, but also got a little frustrating and repetitive the farther we progressed, mainly because the dungeons didn't have any way to quickly jump back to your current spot, ala Oocoo in TP or the "magic pots" in WW. In comparison, TP never seemed to drag or get frustrating like OOT sometimes did.

While I'd give all three of these 5 out of 5, if I was going to rank them for fun, I'd put it TP, WW, OOT (that is, the games have gotten more fun with each iteration, which is as it should be :).

Graphically, this game looks like exactly what it is: An extremely polished GameCube game (I'm looking forward to the next one, since it will be a Wii only game, and won't be restricted by the limitations of the GameCube). I did spot a few glitches (shadows occasionally, going the wrong direction, models occasionally clipping through "solid" objects, etc.)...not nearly as much as in OOT, but more than WW. But, then, I'm a game developer myself, and I tend to notice things like that more than the average person ;)

Controls are mostly excellent. A few of the "Special" sword attacks were hard to pull off, but aiming the ranged weapons is a joy with the Wiimote. The general swordplay controls were excellent (and much more intuitive than the 2 previous versions using joysticks and buttons). Even my daughter (turning 4 in a month) could have fun with the controls (she likes fishing and fighting goblins the best).

The audio is excellent (especially if you're playing it through a nice stereo with good speakers :).

If you have a Wii, you really should play this game. It is the most approachable Zelda ever (the closest to a "casual" Zelda game you're going to find). It is also the best looking Zelda so far.

And, it's one of the best games ever made for any platform, ever.

I never grew up on Nintendo nor Zelda. I had bought the Wii and at first was not excited about getting Zelda, however after finishing both Marvel Ultimate Alliance and Rayman Rabbits, I was looking for something that would give me the "oomph" of Marvel Ultimate Alliance. At first, I was a little disappointed, the pace is much slower than a fighting game. I also felt I needed a help book or internet guide to understand and move on in the world. However, the game grows on you and you start to understand the language of the game, so that it becomes thoroughly addicting. The best part is the actual depth to the game and its inherent simplicity. I go back and forth of solving levels with and without the clue book. You personally get more out of the game without the help guides. Additionally, the game doesn't really get boring, as you continually have new goals and weapons. I would say the only negative, besides being thoroughly addicting, is that the sound of the remote is louder than you may want when you are playing really late at night and have turned down the television volume to zero. This is a game where you will easily spend over eighty hours playing, how fast you finish those eighty hours is up to you. I guess a minor complaint would be I'm not sure it's possible to finish the game or even complete a large portion without having some help of some kind. Many times you can experiment to solve a puzzle, but because of the size of the game it may take your hours upon hours to figure it out.

The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess is even better than Ocarina of Time. I'll start my review with the good and the bad

GOOD
Awesome level and puzzle design
Awesome Gadgets such as the Light Sword and Ball and Chain
Great story line that follows Link and Midna's quest to get the Mirror Shards and the Fused Shadows
Great controlls and you can finnaly run and swing your sword
Surprising Twiligh Princess
Amazing Conclusion
Awesome Hidden attacks like the finishing move back slice and the Great Spin
Link finally has a Fan CLub AKA the children of his village

THE BAD
Sometimes Lacking graphics
High resolution graphics are missing

Ok the good outweighs the bad. If you have a Wii get this game. It'll keep you glued to the floor untill you beat it and then some. You'll never guess who the Twilight Princess is. (Maybe you thanks to Internet spoilers)
If you're new to the series get this game. Zelda is a masterpiece video game. Great story combined with cool gadgets and awesome controlls make this game a must. A++++++++++++++++++++++
