The PS3 features IBM's "Cell" processor and a co-developed Nvidia graphics processor that makes the system able to perform two trillion calculations per second. That's approximately 320 times more calculations per second than the PS2. Sony's PlayStation 3 games are encoded onto the Blu-Ray disc media format, which can hold six times as much data as traditional DVDs. New gamers intuitively move the controller while playing, even though that movement has traditionally had no relation to what's going on in the game. Sony has picked up on this tendency and is using it to bring a new level of control into the PS3. Inside the controller is a high-precision six-axis sensing system that accurately detects fine movements in pitch, roll, and yaw, as well as three dimensions of movement, to control games. This means that future PS3 games will be controlled by the movements of your hands rather than just your thumbs. For example, you might be able to steer a car by holding the controller like a steering wheel. A Slew of New Games
A whole host of game publishers are already backing the PS3 and several have even confirmed games for the console. At the 2006 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), more than 30 titles were displayed for the system, including Gran Turismo HD, Resistance: Fall of Man, and Final Fantasy XIII. Previously announced titles include Metal Gear Solid 4, Devil May Cry 4 and Tekken 6. Online
Sony has stated that the PS3 will have similar online connectivity and services as the next generation of Xbox Live. Calling it "an always on, always connected device," SCEI's chief technical officer Masa Chatani said the PS3 would be constantly in touch with a "PlayStation World" network "fundamentally based on community, communication commerce, and content." Technically, the infrastructure is there to make that connection. The PS3 supports 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, 1000BASE-T Ethernet, as well as IEEE 802.11 b/g wireless networking protocols.

THE GRAPHIS ARE GREAT IN THE PS3. THE CONTROLLER IS NOT THAT DIFFERENT FROM PS2 THATS THE GOOD THING. THE ONLY GAME I HAVE FOR MY PS3 IS DEF JAM ICON. MY BROTHER GOT IT FOR ME FROM SOME WHERE. ANY WAY THE PS3 IS GREAT

Sony's last effort, the PS2, was a huge sucess, and with games like God of War, Devil May Cry, and Ratchet and Clank, it simply made its way down a one way road into many people's houses. The PS3, while a pricey piece of technology, is again shaping up to be like it's younger brother. It looks like it may very well reinvent and revolutionize gaming once again. It is a little big, but it is beatiful. It has a very nice black glossy finish, and the overall "style" is perfect. The games are on the mediocre side right now, with only Resistance backing up the the PS3 as of now. But many games are soon to come out, such as Ratchet and Clank, Metal Gear Solid, etc. The user interface is very impressive. It's easy to get used to, and provides maximum comfort. But the best part is that the graphics are excellent. They're abseloutely GORGEOUS. Beautiful character models and sharp environments add to the quality. The controller handles very well, and the motion sensing is a nice addition, even though it was copied right off the Wii. The sound is also very well done. The surround sound combined with the graphics equal a true next generation experience.
Graphics: This is what next gen is suuposed to look like. Perfect graphics. 10/10
Sound: Next Gen Graphics plus next gen sound equal a truly next gen experience. Surround sound makes you feel like you're in the game. Another perfect category. 10/10
Price: The price is very high, and since the games are going to be aimed at a lot of different types of people, a price reduction is a must. However, it is worth it. 6/10
Games as of now: Resistance is the one and only. Plus some others like Virtua Fighter and Madden, but no killer apps. 5/10
Games in the future: Future seems to be shaping up bright! Devil May cry, Metal gear solid, Ratchet and Clank, Final Fantasy, and more. 9/10
Design: The system's design is well done. However it is a little big and a tad bit noisy... Oh well the glossy finish makes up for that, even though fingerprints are susceptible to the unit because of that. 7/10
User Interface: It is perfect. So simple, easy to use heck my 5 year old can do it! 10/10
Overall: The system suffers from a currently mediocre library, minor design flaws, and a high price, but its future games, user interface and graphics make it the best choice.

This is definitely the best system Sony launched with "PLAYSTATION" on it. I only got Resistance: Fall of Man so far and it is great. Virtua Fighter 5 and MotorStorm are of the highlight that shipped recently.

First of all I am just a casual gamer and am not going to get in spec arguments. I really loved the PS3. Madden looks absolutely awesome. MLB 2K7 is jaw dropping. I love it. I would recommend it to anyone. It plays smoothe. My nephew has a XBOX 360 and has had nothing but problems with it. I took mine out of the box and it works like a charm. Bottom line I like it and I think it is worth the price. To do what I do with my PS3 it would cost me the same to buy a XBOX 360 with the extras.

I bought a ps3 in january and right now have a sceptre gaming monitor and 3 games. basically here are a few games out there worth the money. the PS3 was a very smart buy. with blu-ray support and the gaming is amazing. though the line up is not that great now, some amazing games are coming out. for instance, motorstorm just came out, and the gameplay is stupendous. I am a very "talented" gamer and motorstorm actually gave me a challenge. the PS3 is a revolution in gaming. people unable to buy them are unhappy and then bad mouth them. and PS3's are becoming radiply available now.
