Our Editorial Review
Product Description On-the-go Leapster players can protect and store their Leapster learning game system! The carrying case holds the Leapster Learning Game System and up to 6 game cartridges
Editorial Review This durable case is designed for toting the popular Leapster around on car trips, plane rides, or anywhere kids might travel. It holds up to six Leapster cartridges in a rear pouch and has room for the Leapster itself in the main zippered compartment, which sports a soft fleece lining. The case is relatively lightweight and doesn't feature the hard shell that some might like for protecting the Leapster but the soft plastic covering should provide protection for most accidental knocking around. --Charlie Williams

Better for the new Leapster design Posted 06 July 2007 Just got this Leapster Carrying Case for my son despite some of the "not up to par" reviews it has been given here. I purchased it from a store where I could get my hands on it to see for myself.
1. One of the biggest complaints I've read state that the old (triangle) design Leapster does not fit well into the case - that it's too tight and the zipper breaks trying to zip it up. My response to this is that even though this case WAS originaly designed for the old design Leapster, it fits the new (rectangle) design Leapster and Leapster L-Max much, much better. It's roomy and zips-up easily with a cartridge left in my son's Leapster. The zipper seems to be very strong and sturdy.
2. Several reviewers have mentioned that they were hoping the case was a hard-shell plastic rather than just soft padding. I believe that the case is actually thick enough to prevent scratches and damage from minor falls. Just yesterday the case, with the Leapster in it, was accidentaly kicked off of our coffee table onto our concrete floor. The case protected the Leapster perfectly.
I have taught my son that our possessions, like his toys, are to be taken care of and played with in the manner they are meant to be played with. He is to clean up and put away his toys properly when he is finished playing with them. Accidents happen, but this one lesson has kept all of his toys in like-new condition, and that is a lot for a 3.5 year old active boy!
3. Many reviewers mentioned that the mesh cartridge pocket doesn't hold the cartidges well. Again, I disagree. The pocket is meant to hold no more than 6 cartidges, flatly. The velcro closures close well with the pocket flap closing close to the pocket to where the cartridges do not fall out. With the rectangular Leapster, you can also fit a few cartridges loosely in the interior of the case. My son also realized that he could fit his full Leapster Cartridge Wallet into the mesh pocket of the case, allbeit the pocket flap does not close as well with the Wallet in it, it will not fall out!
Really, folks, this is a great case for the rectangular Leapster and Leapster L-Max. Much better than the flimsy and useless Leapster Carry-All Backpack.
A must-have for Leapster owners Posted 10 June 2007 My daughter has the purple "girly" Leapster and this fits it well. The back pocket holds a LOT of games (I think she has at least 9 in there now) and it also protects the Leapster successfully.
A pretty good buy Posted 10 May 2007 We've had this case for at least 2 years and it has held up very well. It has been extremely durable. My one criticism is for the cartridge storage pocket. It should have been a lot larger and the closure is a little weak. Overall, it was a good purchase but it might be worth looking for a larger case if you have a lot of cartridges.
very good case for everyday use Posted 21 April 2007 I feel that this case is very good for what we purchased it to do - hold all our cartridges in one place and prevent the Leapster from getting banged up. It is the perfect size for a 3 to 6 year old to bring along on trips or to their siblings practices. It is small enough that it easily fits in a backpack also.
After I realized I had washed my son's favorite Thomas cartridge in the washing machine (he had put it in his pocket) I knew I had to have a better storage system. This works for us. He also stores his Leapster in the case while the cartridge is still in it all the time and we have never had any problems with the zipper unlike what some of the other reviewers have described - maybe it depends on the model or style of Leapster (we have the newer one that is more rectangular and larger on the bottom). It has proven very durable.
The only thing preventing me from giving this 5 stars is that I do wish the cartridge pocket was slightly more padded, and I do feel it is a little overpriced (seems like it should be closer to the [...] range). However I plan to buy another case for my 4 year old daughter who just got her own Leapster for her birthday. All in all we are very pleased.
As promised Posted 15 April 2007 No zipper problems. No losing games. Everything in one place and protected. The case does what is should, protects the unit and gives you a little storage. I gave it 4 stars because it is a little expensive for what your get. For a 5 star review at this price, I think a few more bells and whistles would be required (shoulder strap, sepertae battery compartment, etc...
