Realistic Looking Design
For fans of the video game, these Plasma Pistols will look like they were pulled right out of the computer screen. Made of a durable hard plastic and carefully crafted and colored to look just like its video game counterpart, we were very impressed with the hefty, build quality. The likeness doesn't end with just the physical look; the plasma gun also lights up in the appropriate spots, creates realistic sounds, and even has details like overheating sounds. The guns feel wonderful in the hand and aren't uncomfortable in any way.

Laser Tag Fun
The guns aren't just collectible replicas; they're functional and with them, you can play a great game of laser tag with your friends. This set includes two guns and two target units, enough for a two player game, but more guns can be purchased to increase the number of players.

To begin play, simply flip the switch to on both the gun and the target. The target unit has a belt clip for easy attachment to the player's body. With each shot you will hear the firing sound from the game, and the tip will light up. When you hit the target, it flashes and makes a sound.

The target has six shield levels that are indicated by lights on the unit, and the game is over when all six shield levels are depleted. Just as in the video game, you can create a super shot by holding the trigger down for at least three seconds and then releasing. This super shot inflicts more damage but will temporarily overheat the gun and disable it. When ammo is used up, a push of the reload button lets you resume. Also, like in the video game, the target will regenerate shield levels if not hit for 20 seconds.

Long Range
We were able to test the target from about 50 feet away without any problems. (The instruction booklet claims a range of 92 feet. ) One minor annoyance we encountered was that the laser tracking device wasn't especially accurate; we would get "hits" even when we weren't aiming straight at the target. This was especially noticeable in short distances and while playing one-player target practice. With multiple players, there was so much running around and the target was so difficult to hit that we did not notice.

Batteries Required
Each Plasma Pistol requires 4 AA batteries to operate and each target needs 3 AA batteries, meaning a total of 14 batteries are needed for a two player game. Investing in rechargeable batteries might be wise and would save money in the long run. The guns and targets will enter sleep mode if it detects no activity for 10 minutes, saving battery life.

I bought these for a kind of gag gift for my husband for Christmas after seeng people using them in an online video. The video made the guns look more durable than they are, and also the top vent popped when the guns overheated. The ones we got didn't do that and the paint started chipping on them before we ever played with them. The sound works ok so far, but we haven't used them for any serious gaming, more just to add to his Halo collection.[...].

Although built out of the standard "toy gun" plastic, the functionality of the toy is great. The targets are fun to shoot, and you can even wear the targets (although quite bulky). For the sale price I purchased it at, it was worth it. The first set we had, however, died on Christmas day - the same day they were opened. But Amazon's return and replacement were amazing as usual.

The 4 stars in my review come partially from the fact that I bought them on sale for just over ten dollars with free shipping. Otherwise, I would give them a 3 if they cost more. Over all, safe and fun for Halo fans everywhere.

Unfortunately due to the cold weather, my kids have only been able to play with this inside. They love it though! I can't wait until it's nice out and they really get to use it. It seems durable and they've used it more than many of their other gifts. The only downfall is the number of batteries it takes to operate.

Christmas gift for the 6 year old grandson. He wanted it, we bought it ...
Most of Christmas day at least one adult in the household was playing, and losing, at the halo laser tag. We ALL had a blast!!! Buy it, your child and adult/child will love it!

Bought this for my 10 year old nephew who is a Halo fanatic and he was thrilled. Plasma pistols make game-like sounds and the target has the voice of Slayer mode. Really cool. Although a heads up, set takes 16 AA batteries.
