Product Description Saline Water Filtration Pump (Saltwater) ChlorinatorWhat is saline conversion chlorination? Saline chlorination is a term used for the process of converting the salt dissolved in water into active liquid chlorine, known as hypochlorite, for the sanitization of swimming pool and spa water. This form of chlorination will not damage your pool! Chlorine "tablets" or "powder" can damage the pool liner while saline conversion will not. A specific quantity of pure, non-iodized, fine grain table salt is added to the pool water to create a saltwater (saline) concentration of 0.3% (3000 parts per million). This salinity concentration is slightly less than the salinity level found in most human tears, thus it is very gentle to the swimmer's eyes and skin. Some people think that you will be able to taste the salt like the salt in the ocean. This is not true. The level of salt in the water is so small, it is barely noticeable. Also, the mildly salted water will not affect the PVC plumbing, filters or pump. Saline chlorination is easier and safer! You will not need to buy or store any dangerous chemicals as you would for a pool with an out-dated conventional filtration pump. You will not need to "shock" this pool with raw chlorine as you would with other pools. Plus, the chlorine generator is self-cleaning which makes it 100% maintenance free! This will work with any pool that has a 2500 gallon pump. * Built in timer automatically turns unit off after daily operating cycle * Keypad locking system ensures settings are not changed accidentally * Treats a maximum of 4,000 gallons per hour. * Easy to use test strips (50 count) included to check performance and maintain * No more red, burning eyes, dry skin, or faded swimsuits * Easy set-up video included * Brand new and 1st quality! * We never sell refurbs, seconds or customer returns

So far, so good Posted 02 July 2008 I have never had a pool before this year, so I do not have any first-hand experience to compare to, but I am satisfied with this system so far. Again, nothing to compare to since this is my first pool and I hooked this system up to it right away (actually about a week after set-up). But listening to others talk about chemicals, prices, how hard it is to keep the water clean, etc. I'm thinking this was a very wise purchase. My pump is actually too small for this system (have got another one, but not hooked up yet) and it still is doing a good job of keeping the pool clean without chemicals. Our 16' diameter round pool (metal frame, 4' deep) has been set up for a little over a month. It's still clean even with the pump that is too small for this system. Nothing added to the water but salt upon setup. I suspect that when we get the new pump hooked up, it will be even better (why Intex sold a pool with a pump that is too small for the pool is beyond me, but apparently that's what they do). Only complaint I have on the salt water system is the fact that every time the power flashes, the system has to be reset. It's not hard to reset, you just have to remember to do it. Oh, and I also don't like the fact that there's not an actual clock on the unit making it to where you have to go out and set it at the time of day/night that you want it to run every day. This is also not a big deal, you just have to remember to "re-do" it every time the power is interrupted (go out and set it at the time of day you want it to run). For instance if you want it to come on at 9:00pm, you have to go outside and set it at 9:00pm. There's no "programming" that will allow you to go outside at like say 1:00pm and set it to come on at 9:00pm. You have to actually go out at the time of day you want it to run. Once you set it, it will come on at the same time every day assuming the power doesn't get interrupted. Overall I am very satisfied with this product and would recommend it to anyone with a pool!
Saline Water Filtration Pump (Saltwater) Chlorinator Posted 01 July 2008 Other some startup problems, once we got the chlorinator working it has exceeded my expectations. Great product and great service.
Huge electric bill Posted 26 June 2008 We purchased this last summer and had some trouble with it. Water flow was too low on our Intex pool for this to work reliably. When it did work, the water had a wonderful feel to it. We bought a new pump this year with a higher flow and decided not to hook the salt water cholorinator back up because we had high electric bills with it last summer. Make sure you have a good enough water flow for this to work well, and expect your electric bill to go up.
