Product Description Dark times have spread over the world of Gaia. Four separate governing nations, some blinded by their short-sighted greed, some persevering in the name of justice, are battling on and off in a deadly game for power. One kingdom, that of Lindblum, headed by the honorable and trustworthy Regent Cid, finally decides to take a stand against the unspeakable massacres by the troops of Alexandria. Enlisting the aid of mere bandits to kidnap Princess Garnet of the Alexandria Empire, for information and interrogation, Garnet and her bodyguard actually join Cid's cause, knowing full well the outlandish recklessness of the governing Queen, who counterattacks with an onslaught of warriors. Thus begins a crossfire that would engulf the world in something far worse than political standoffs. Out of the band of thieves, one boy along with his entourage must battle his way through several awe-inspiring challenges to restore order and peace. Format: PLAYSTATION

"One of the Best" Posted 12 March 2007 Final Fantasy IX was and always will be one of the best games of the RPG genre. The characters roles were aptly chosen for the game's storyline, each segment filling the void that only Squaresoft(Square-Enix) can provide. If Final Fantasy VII wasn't already number 1, I'd use this to fill that spot.
Great characters and a great story. Posted 04 March 2007 FFIX is in my oppinion the best of all the FF games. It's graphics have held up well and the story is engaging. Plus, it's one of the only FF games with a happy ending. Any true fan will tell you that all the old games are worth playing at least once. Out of all 12 versions of Final Fantasy FFIX is my favorite, best story, great characters and with the most worthwhile ending.
An Excellent RPG and One of Final Fantasy's Best Posted 25 February 2007 When I began playing this game, I had played several games of the Final Fantasy series, and was a veteran RPG gamer. I have to admit that this game met and exceeded my expectations, and is what I like to call a masterpiece. The gameplay was fun, the storyline was inventive (with nice little plot twists), and the battle system was fast-paced and worked, two qualities that are a must for a good RPG.
Combine that with good sounds/music, amazing graphics, and stellar cutscenes (though there could have been more of those without complaint), and you've got yourself one very fine PS1 title that can contend with today's "high-end" RPGs.
Solid Posted 15 February 2007 Square Enix never really fails to put out solid, quality games, and Final Fantasy IX is no different. Fun, addictive gameplay, intriguing, epic storyline, and a sprawling world to explore are only a few of the reasons why the Final Fantasy series is widely considered the best in the gaming world.
Wonderful Posted 15 February 2007 In the 9th installment of the Final Fantasy Series this one brings back the 'old' school gaming. If you've been a F.F. fan since the SuperNES then you'll know what I am referring to. The game play is a 8 out of 10 because in FF 6/3 i liked the way all of the characters could learn magic spells. I enjoy the fact that all of the cast in 9 has a trance mode and each of them can learn new techniques. The summoning isn't too shabby either - all though a lot of the previous monsters from old Final Fantasies have an updated look - they still kick major tooshy.
The storyline is a 10 out of 10 because it is sheer genius. I love the way the story unfolds and as you continue on it just gets better and better.
The cast of characters has his/her unique past and abilities. Each of their personalities is different from the rest and some of them even clash with each other. They have faults and failures they've gone through, as well as good and bad habits. 10 out of 10.
Above all this game is a class unlike many other people who say it totally stunk and the reviewers gave it horrible reviews. In my opinion it's a great game and it shouldn't be a disappointment. Highly recommended.
