Worth the wait Posted 23 January 2009 My six year old great niece was excited about receiving this for a belated Xmas present. She enjoyed the baking opportunities and the attention and time shared with her mother using it. I do wish the prices for the baking ingredients would be more economical so that she can bake items more often. Great gift for this age group.
Easy bake oven and mixes Posted 19 January 2009 Santa brought my 4 1/2 yr-old daughter this "microwave" for Christmas this year. She loves being able to do just about the entire process for herself...Which even makes up for the rather small size of the finished product.
Easy Bake oven hasn't changed much :( Posted 13 January 2009 I remember having an easy bake oven as a child, so I told my daughter all about it and what it does. She became so excited and asked Santa for one. Only to be very disappointed when we went to use it on Christmas. First we needed a light bulb, one we didnt have and it has to be a 100 watt, clear light bulb. They are very specific when it comes to the type of light bulb you need. That isnt the only thing wrong. The food you make with it isnt good at all. I know it wasnt going to be the best thing eat, but it was horrible & if you dont eat it right away it gets hard as a rock. My 4 year old daughter spit it out. On tv they advertise it as something so cool and i believe it is just a disappointment. She was soooooo excited about it and that is upsetting to me that she was so disappointed.
Easy Bake Oven Posted 10 January 2009 Well, not much to say here. These are the same ovens and mixes they've always been. We did sugar cookies and the pan cake. Both of them turned out pretty yucky - the cookies were OK, hard on the edges but soft in the center. The cake turned out to be nasty, mostly hard all the way through it, and the frosting didn't help much. It was fun for my daughter to mix up the ingredients and bake it herself, though. One nice thing would be for the timer on the front to actually be hooked to something to turn the bulb on or off.
Fun with my niece Posted 07 January 2009 I had an easy bake oven as a child and loved it. I had to get one for my niece. She loves to help in the kitchen so this is a great thing for me to do with her that is more of her control. It boosts her self esteem that she can do it herself.
