Editorial Review With all the high-tech electronic toys available for kids today, it would seem that the basics would be long forgotten. However, often the classic toys are the ones children want to play with the most. This classic block set includes 50 solid wood 1-inch-square blocks that are ideal for stacking or building. Two sides of each block feature carved letters or numbers in bright primary colors for teaching the alphabet or counting during play. The other four sides feature stamped letters, numbers, or pictures for additional practice in identification. My grand daughter love them. She is 1 yr old, everything goes in her mouth or thrown around the room. She is having a great time and she loves the bright colors, and is learning to stack them.

These blocks are great. They are printed on all 4 sides with numbers, letters and pictures. They are great for stacking, putting in dump trucks and learning. Seems my kids never get tired of them.

The description states that these blocks are 1" x 1" - The pictures doesn't indicate what size they are and they don't come in this plastic box that is shown in the picture. When purchasing items from Amazon.com it's important to actually read the "description" part of the page and not rely on the pictures.
Paint comes off Posted 10 March 2008
Its very retro and a cute idea, however, after I washed it the first time, the paint started coming off of the cubes. I'm concerned about giving it to my daughter because I don't want her ingesting any of the paint into her mouth.

I was looking for new blocks to use for a work assignment and I wanted them to look real sharp and clean, not beat up and chipped. They were perfect for my use, beautifully made and precise. Excellent workmanship.
