Our Editorial Review
Product Description Some things never go out of style. A rainbow of five rings fits over a cone with rocking base. Stacking toys help baby develop fine motor skills while encouraging cognitive abilities. Made of teethable material.
Editorial Review For generations babies have delighted in this classic stacking toy. Consisting of five bright candy-colored rings in graduated sizes looped over an 8-inch-tall plastic post, the Rock-A-Stack helps babies develop coordination as they learn to stack the easy-to-grasp rings in the proper order. Little ones will have the time of their lives sorting, stacking, and tasting to see if the rings really taste as good as they look. Made of absolutely safe, washable soft plastic suitable for teething. --Marianne Painter

Not a huge hit at our house but... Posted 14 March 2007 I started looking for one of these for my son when he was, I think, somewhere between six months and a year. And at that point they were nowhere to be had - maybe that was when they were changing the top ring from all red to half red, half clear with beads inside?
At any rate it was hard to find and I think the effort involved in tracking one down compared to how much my son actually used/liked it made it seem to fall a little flat.
If you can find one easily and if you can find one cheaply - why are the Fisher Price basics seeming to sell for twice their store price on this site??? - it's not a bad toy to get at all, especially for the 1 and under set.
My biggest complaint about this toy is it is NOT like it was when I was little. I remember it being taller and having more rings, and that's not just one of those memories where things seemed bigger because you were smaller. I have seen old ones - alas, not with all the rings present - and they were taller and clearly originally had more rings. There are gaps when all the rings aren't present, due to how the center tower gets bigger as you go down it so as to coax the child into stacking correctly - that's how I know it was supposed to have more rings.
In the end we got more play out of a Melissa and Doug wooden stacker. I think my son liked the bigger range of colors and the fact that it didn't force you to stack in any order, since the pole and the inner holes of the rings were all the same diameter.
A classic; simply the best Posted 07 February 2007 You can buy every toy you want for your child; the best toys are always the easiest, cheapest, and simplest. Take the Rock-a-Stack; our child's favorite. We've got three of 'em: one for every relative. For the youngest, they're simple chew toys; for the oldest they're balancing rings, shaking noisemakers; and for the in-between they're a little of everything. Probably the most played with toy we've got. Only downside is the lack of homing device on the rings and their tendency to roll under the couch, causing automatic induction of fit.
Buy a few of them.
A tried and true classic. Can't go wrong. Great gift. Posted 04 January 2007 Engaging, encourages hand-eye coordination, fun, entertains for long periods. Durable, waterproof, easy to clean.
All children need this toy! Posted 12 December 2006 This is a favorite toy that has stood the test of time. Although it's simple - it teaches so many things - colors, stacking, sizing - and children can practice fine motor skills while problem-solving. You can't go wrong with this old favorite!
Still Great Posted 07 December 2006 I love this toy. More to the point--my son loves this toy. It took me a while to find the basic Fisher-Price ring stacker we all remember (I didn't want one that lit up, played music or had 12 rings. I just wanted a simple toy), but when I finally did, I jumped on it. We bought this when my son was about 6 months old, and he still plays with it now at 21 months. Still a great toy after all these years.
