Product Description An essential measure for any safety-conscious biker, the Blackburn Mars 2.0 Rear Bicycle Light will help make sure you are seen by traffic in plenty of time. The Mars 2.0 is constructed in a tough, water-resistant case and utilizes six super-bright red LEDs. This rear bicycle light features a no-tools mounting bracket that also mounts to a Blackburn rack. Blackburn's Mars 2.0 runs on two AAA batteries (included) for 60 hours in steady mode, or 200 hours in flash mode. About Blackburn In 1975, Jim Blackburn set out to design stronger, lighter, more innovative and more reliable cycling products. The first were bags and racks designed for touring. From there, Blackburn grew. Over the next 30 years, Blackburn's spark of innovation would lead to many revolutionary products, like the first high quality aircraft aluminum rack, the first dual stroke minipump, the first oversized mountain minipump and the first dual stage/dual stroke floorpump just to name a few. For 2005, Blackburn's creative spark is burning brighter than ever. And as we head into our 30th year, Blackburn is re-dedicated to designing smart, reliable, no nonsense accessories that are essential to your riding experience.
Customer Reviews
Bright is an understatement Posted 11 September 2008 I bought this light after a few weeks of painstakingly trolling Amazon for a quality and inexpensive light. I was originally attracted to the sleek futuristic looking design, followed closely by its high reviews from other customers. As others have noted, I see where a small crack could form on the backing, but a properly sized screwdriver and some gentleness should alleviate any problem. This light is great. It fits on my bike snug, it has 3 separate functions, all easily operated by a single rubberized button Also, it is REALLY bright. (WARNING: don't look into this light directly if your eyes are sensitive) I would definately suggest this to anyone looking for a cheap, well put together light.
Rear bike light Posted 15 August 2008 I had one before and lost it somehow, so I ordered another. They have a great visibility range and several settings for display. Great product, will provide notice for your safety.
Liked it Posted 31 July 2008 The flash mode is the best I like in this product. It can be seen from far off which is good when biking in the night.
Good bright rack light Posted 03 March 2008 Blackburn Mars 2.0 Flasher Rear Bicycle Light I commute by bicycle 12 months a year. I carry panniers and a bag that sits on top of my rear rack. Most rear bicycle lights are designed to mount on the seatpost and do not come with mounting hardware that permits easy mounting of the light on a rear rack. The top bag I use would block the view of seatpost mounted light.
I wanted a light which would mount to a L bracket bolted to the rack. The Blackburn Mars 2.0 is one of few that can be so mounted without lots of jerry-rigging. Strengths: The Blackburn Mars 2.0 is lightweight, bright, enjoys long battery life and has several flashing patterns. Drawbacks: The on/off button is hard to use with gloves on and mounting to the L Bracket and dismounting from the L Bracket is a little tricky, depending on your L bracket. There is a black plastic clamp on the back that you may have to shave off a little to get your L bracket between it and the light for mounting. Still, it is the only light I have found that mounts this easily on an L Bracket. I recommend it to all who bicyclist who use a rear rack and trunk bag.
Nice big bright taillight Posted 20 December 2007 Summary: High-quality construction and very bright red LEDs help ensure visibility, all at a very nice price.
Pros: Sturdy design with rubber rim and rubber gaskets around screwholes. 4 *very* bright red LEDs facing back are the primary lights; 2 less-bright yellow LEDs facing outward on the sides provide side visibility. The steady, flash, and chase modes provide a good variety of lighting modes, and the belt clip and tube mount each provide secure mounting. Alkaline batteries are supplied in package.
Cons: Must fully unscrew thumbscrew in order to release light from bike when tube mounted. Belt clip *must* remain installed, as otherwise 2 of the 4 main screws securing the case closed are too long to be fully tightened. 3 of the 4 main screws needed to change batteries are tiny and need to be tightened carefully to avoid damaging the plastic case or screw.
Overall: This would be a 5-star bargain if only the light could be clipped in/out of the tube mount. That minor defect and the tininess of 3 of the case screws lead me to rate it at 4.5 stars.
