Glued on the wings-my daughter LOVES it! Posted 28 September 2008 After a few days of snapping the wings back on every 5 minutes my husband decided to glue them on permanently. I was skeptical but my daughter agreed to it. It has worked out beautifully. My 6 year old daughter LOVES this doll and walks around with it everywhere. In spite of the wing problem I'm glad we bought it for her. Her enjoyment was worth the 20 bucks. He used some super duper glue but they have stayed on- heaven!
The wings don't stay in place! Posted 03 September 2008 My daughter loved the Barbie, it is really a beautiful doll. However the wings don't stay in place, they keep falling, and it looks like it's a fabrication deffect. Did you have the same problem?
Nice doll, but I'd pick the one with smaller wings Posted 06 June 2008 My daughter has never seen the Mariposa movie, but fell in love with this doll because it's a fairy and a Barbie--the best of both worlds as far as she's concerned. We've had the doll about a month now and haven't had any problems with the wings just "falling off." They do come off if the doll bumps hard enough against something or if they're twisted just so, but definitely no falling off the doll with the slightest movement. They seem to snap onto the back of the doll quite snugly, but perhaps they will wear over time?
I do have to say though, that if I had it to do over again I wouldn't have bought this doll--I would have bought the Barbie Fairytopia Mariposa Doll which has much, much smaller wings. Unfortunately I didn't realize a version with smaller wings was available until I already bought the Magic Wings one. The only reason I'd buy the one with smaller wings is that even my daughter finds the size of the large wings annoying sometimes. Often she'll leave the wings at home or in the car when we go out, because although she wants to take her pretty doll with her, she doesn't want to deal with those huge wings!
