not meant for younger children Posted 11 August 2008 I bought this product for my daughter's 4th birthday not realizing that it came with 2 cartridiges that only played partial songs. It did not specify that it only worked with a 1 or 2 GB 1st generation iPod Nano when I purchased it. It also plays without the cartridges and the only thing the cartidges do is makes it so only certain songs play, but it's only less than a minute of the actual song. Although both my daughters ages 4 and 5 enjoy singing with it... after a while of the same songs playing over and over again it gets quite annoying, and although I recognize most of the songs the kids did not...they are very old songs most of them and they are not kids songs. And iPod nano's are so expensive compared to other mp3 players I wouldn't recommend it especially for children too young to understand that they are highly breakable and expensive. And it will not work properly without the ipod nano. This toy was not meant for young children. And the seller should specify that in order to get the most out of this toy you must have an ipod nano, instread of letting the customer figure it out on their own. Unless you have a 12 year old that is willing to sport around a barbie toy and likes kelly clarkson and leann rimes do not buy this toy and do not buy it unless you are willing to spend another $65-$100 for a 1 GB iPod nano that a 4 and 5 year old would break within a few days.
Karokee Posted 26 July 2008 My daughter who was 2 1/2 at Christmas received this karokee machine. I grew up to all the music on it and she loves to sing along (now 3 years old). When there is an adult in the room she gets on the coffee table and sings her heart out( Girls just wanna have fun!, is her favorite!) She had a girlfriend over, who was inseparable from the Barbie karokee, so we purchased her one for her 3rd Birthday and she loves it, Celebration is her favorite. Some think the music is outdated, but I enjoy it and the kids love playing with it!
Just ok Posted 26 December 2007 This is a great toy with a great concept, however, the songs are so outdated on it. I wish the songs were more recent. Also, it comes with only a handful of songs and as far as I know there are no other cartridges that they sell separately. Surely my daughter will get bored with this quickly. Also note that third generation ipods do not fit into it, therefore that feature is useless for me. Although I wouldn't want my 3-year old playing with my ipod anyway so I guess that feature would be useless to me either way. But just know that if you are planning on using this feature with your ipod, it will not work with third generations. Overall, a great idea for a toy, and fun at first, but I foresee it quickly being thrown on the bottom of the toy box. If they update the music on this and sell more music cartridges, I think this toy would be a best seller!
