A HUGE HIT! Posted 09 January 2007 My 4-year-old nephew loved this. This was definitely his favorite Christmas present. He liked playing with it even though there were hardly any bugs outside because it's cold out. THe only bad part is that the vacuum fan can get knocked out of kilt, but I was able to fix it by loosening some screws and pushing things around a bit.
Fun toy for bug loving kids. Posted 03 January 2007 Our three year old son is obsessed with insects. His love of bugs is so extreme that he insisted on being an earwig for Halloween and he spends almost all of his time outside hunting for bugs. We got this bug vacuum for him for Christmas, and he loves it. This time of year we don't see many bugs, but he has managed to remove a couple of spiders from the house! In the meantime, he practices by sucking up anything small enough to be a pretend bug. I have to agree somewhat with the other reviews about the lack of power, but at the same time I think the vacuum is appropriate as a toy for young children. I also noticed that the power increased dramatically when we replaced the included batteries with a higher quality of batteries. My son (and our other kids) have had a great time with this toy and I'm sure once the weather warms up they'll have even more fun.
Great birthday present Posted 11 December 2006 I gave this as a birthday present. The mother of the 3-year-old called me after the party and told me that the little boy insisted on taking a nap with his new toy. It was definitely a hit, especially for kids who love the outdoors. It gives them something to look for, something to explore and is a great alternative to active outdoor play.
