Karaoke Posted 05 October 2008 This item was purchased for use in my Kindergarten classroom. We use it when the students read their stories to the rest of the class. It projects their voices enough that even the shyest student can be heard. A longer cord would help for our use in school, but I was happy to find an inexpensive microphone that actually works. It might be better if the volume could be louder, but I'm sure parents that buy this for home use will be glad it is not too loud.
The Rock Star Posted 15 September 2008 This is a great toy for the child that likes to play rock star. Have had no problems mechanically and my grandaughter is 3yrs old.
Fun karaoke toy! Posted 21 April 2008 We got this for our son when he turned 4 recently. He loves it. His 1 year old brother loves it too. They can both operate it easily. It turns itself off after not being used for a while & I appreciate that! It has volume control which is very nice & it gets pretty loud too. I think the songs that come on it are the actual recordings from the show. Most of the time my kids just talk or sing into the mic without any music. They love the echo option too. You can play the songs with or without the singer. It has actual recordings from Simon, Paula & Randy which are either "thumbs up" or "thumbs down," you choose. The whole family passes this thing around when we want an impromtu karaoke session. We haven't loaded any of our own songs onto it yet. It has several to begin with.
I told my kids not to pull it around by the mic. That's the best way to get that "crackling" sound that the older tape versions of karaoke toys used to get. I think as long as they don't do that, this is a pretty solid toy & should last quite a while.
Overall this was a great purchase for us. I put 1 star on educational because it's not meant to be educational.
