good value, bridge could be more stable Posted 09 May 2008 we ordered this set in April 2008 as we liked the bridge and layout shown, but the set we received had a different layout to the picture(can now see correct photo is now shown, Sept 08);the track bridge consisted of 2 supports which didn't hold the track up for long once it started being played with!we sent it back for a refund as there were also a couple of faults with our set.
it looked a fun set,and the track does snap together well, and the track layout size is good value for money.
we now have a wooden set though which we prefer.
Track comes apart easily Posted 19 February 2008 The track comes apart if my son or daughter lean on the track to move around to other areas, we seem to spend most of the time trying to put the track back together there is no movement or give in the track.
The metal engines are really nice but the track lets this down.
I would recommend wooden railway instead.
Excellent for any Thomas fan Posted 17 February 2008 My son loves his Thomas take along; he is 4 and finds the track very easy to put together by him self. There is enough in this set to keep children amused for hours on its own, but the fact that you can add more track, engines and accessories makes it even better. The trains and trucks are very solidly built not like some dye cast toys you get today. The cargo that comes with this set has magnets in allowing them to be picked up by other accessories in the Take Along series like Cranky and Rocky.
Compatible with old track! Posted 23 January 2008 We brought this for my little boys 2nd birthday as he was brought some of the take along trains for chritmas.I thought he would probably struggle to fix it together but he was fine. The only thing that did annoy me and him slightly was the bridge part that was knocked down easily.Having said that since we brought this they have added bridge supports to the track.
But the plus side is my little boy who is nearly three happily plays with his train track all day.
We have since added to it the quarry playset which is the old style track, but be assured you get track converters in all the playsets!
disregard the warnings Posted 16 April 2007 My son has alot of the old style track so i was almost put off buying new style toys. Luckily i risked it, they all came with adapter track pieces which enable you to join the 2 types.
I can't guarantee every new style set will have them but i can say that now i know they make them, it would make sense if they did.
