Our Editorial Review
Amazon.co.uk Review Those clever wooden people at BRIO have done it again--not content with bringing us their wonderful world of train tracks they're now branching into cities and roads. The Wooden Road and Rail Set combines the best of Plan City road and BRIO train tracks. Plan City from BRIO is a wooden road system made to the same high quality customers have come to expect from BRIO. The road tracks are about twice the width of the BRIO train tracks with central road markings. Unlike the rail pieces the road does not have structured grooves for direction and so allows the car drivers slightly more free play than their train-driving buddies. All pieces fit together firmly and easily. The 56-piece road system comprises 21 road pieces in various shapes and sizes, which, courtesy of an exceptionally easy-to-follow layout guide fit together to form an engaging circuit offering dual level play. The road bridge, supported by its four wooden girders, is as elegant as any Brunel suspension bridge and forms a central point for the circuit. From a child's perspective probably the most important part of the whole package is the nifty little connecting piece that allows train-track and road to intersect. There's no level crossing, leaving plenty of scope for those glorious smash-ups so popular with youngsters. The cars included are cute little wooden push-alongs with more than a passing resemblance to a VW Beetle. The town accessories are typical Plan City style--simple, wooden and entirely wholesome. The train track included is the BRIO Train Engineer's Set--probably the best small introductory BRIO rail pack. The 15 track pieces, all proudly embossed with the BRIO logo, make up a basic figure-of-eight railway track. Also included is a bright red train magnetically coupled to a tipping freight wagon. Keeping order over both vehicles is a friendly poseable engineer, who fits snugly into the driver's carriage. The whole package is delivered in a sturdy plastic blue container with matching lid, which is ideal storage for your BRIO Wooden Road and Rail Set after the little railway men have gone to bed. Recommended for children aged 3-7 years, the BRIO Wooden Road & Rail Set is a wonderfully indulgent way to give children (and dads) timeless fun. --Donna Rossignol

Great Train and Road Set Posted 29 December 2005 Brilliant Toy, bought for my son's Christmas present and he loves it to bits. But his sister and myself also like playing with it! But best of all doesn't take too long to pack away or build.A good toy that we can all play with, but it is worth buying the motorised engine separately.
the brio Posted 01 January 2004 I saw this toy at my friend's house. Her daughter was plaing with a very big interest about this toy...that's why I decided to buy it for my nephew. Great toy and great fun even for adults. Kind Regards
